ExpertiseStaff members in the Built Environment Research Institute are drawn from an extremely wide and varied background and offer expertise across the different disciplines within the built environment. Each of the four research Centres in BERI provides a unique range of research expertise. For example in the Fire Safety Engineering Research & Technology Centre (FireSERT), developments include the flammability of nanomaterials, hydrogen safety science and engineering. HySAFER is recognised for achievements in large eddy simulations of physical phenomena underlying multi-scale accidental scenarios involving hydrogen as an energy carrier, including hydrogen fuelled vehicles and stationary fuel cell applications. Within the Centre for Sustainable Technologies (CST) expertise focuses upon alternative energy technologies and energy efficiency through improved design, sustainable materials selection and integration of renewable energy. The Centre for Research on Property and Planning (RPP) offers particular skills and expertise in the financing of urban regeneration, property investment and development, and property taxation. ![]() |
